Your Santorini Day Trip from Crete

Your day starts with pickup from your hotel in Crete that takes you to Heraklion port.

After the ferry arrives at Athinios Port, the island tour begins. You board a comfortable bus and travel first to Oia.

Oia sits at the north of the island and offers stunning views of the sea and the caldera. Many postcards show this village because of its white houses and blue domes.

After Oia, you continue to Fira, the capital of Santorini. Fira stands on a 300-meter cliff above the sea and the volcano. From here, you enjoy more spectacular views. Together, Oia and Fira give you a complete picture of the island’s beauty and character.

Explore Oia

In Oia, you have about 1.5 -2 hours of free time.

Walk along marble paths and discover art galleries, small boutiques, and cozy cafés. Take photos of the famous blue-domed churches against the deep blue sea. Find the well-known three blue domes, one of Santorini’s most famous landmarks.

Sit at a café, enjoy a drink, and look out over the caldera. In Oia, you experience the island’s architecture and peaceful atmosphere up close.

Discover Fira

Next, you visit Fira and spend about two hours there.

Explore shops that sell souvenirs, clothes, and jewelry. Choose a traditional tavern or a modern café for lunch or a snack. Walk to different viewpoints and enjoy clear views of the volcano and the sea.

Santorini Volcano and Hot Springs Boat Trip (Optional Experience)

During the high season, usually from late May, you can join an optional volcano cruise for an extra cost. If you want a real adventure, you can take a boat trip to the volcano of Santorini! It is a small island in the middle of the sea, and it’s still active. You can walk around the volcano and see the hot springs and the colorful rocks. Be careful, though, because it’s very hot and there’s a strong smell of sulfur. But it’s a really cool experience to see a real volcano up close!

A traditional wooden boat takes you across the caldera to Nea Kameni, the island with the active volcano. Walk up to the crater and see the sulfur vents. Stand on black volcanic rock and feel the power of nature.

After the volcano, the boat goes to the hot springs. Swim in warm, mineral-rich water and enjoy a unique experience before you return.

This optional tour is only available during the busy months and at an extra cost of 20€. Note that if you select this cruise to the volcano then you might lose all the time you have at Fira(Thira).

The boat trip includes:

A visit to the volcano island.

A short walk to the crater.

A swim near the hot springs.

The boat trip lasts about 1.5 hours.

This activity usually takes place during your time in Fira.

The volcano cruise is available from late May until October. If the start date changes we will announce it here.

Price

The price of a Santorini tour from Crete is 179 Euro per adult and 89.5 Euro for children. The Santorini tour cost includes fast ferry tickets both ways, transfer from your hotel in Crete and back, bus transfer and bus guided tour on the island of Santorini with free time visits at Oia and Fira villages. In case you dont need transfer to Heraklion port then the cost is 169 Euro.

Crete to Santorini Day Trip Procedure:

We will pick you up around 06:00am to 06:50am and transport you to Heraklion port. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Our driver will provide you with a return ticket with the bus number in Crete. When you arrive at the ticket kiosk, you will exchange your voucher (the tour ticket) for the ferry boat ticket. You will also receive the bus number for the Santorini day trip which is written on the ferry ticket. Following this, you will board the ferry which departs at 08:00 am.

After less than 2 hour cruise across the Aegean Sea, you will reach Santorini.

Your Santorini island tour guide will greet you outside the boat and accompany you to the tour bus. This marks the beginning of your six-hour guided tour. The first destination is the charming Oia town.

Crete to Santorini Day Trip Itinerary:

06:00 – 07:00 am: Pickup from your hotel or meeting point.
